Power BI Challenge 8 – Power BI Insights From Jira Reports

by | Announcement, Power BI

Our 8th Power BI Challenge talks about getting Power BI insights from Jira reports and data.

If you’ve been following this series, you’ll know that this is another unique scenario. We aim to show that Power BI is a dynamic tool that can be used across different industries and business structures.

Knowing that the prize is a complimentary membership to Enterprise DNA Online makes the deal even sweeter. This means that winners get to unlock even more resources that can level up their knowledge and skills in Power BI.

Challenge #8

Challenge #7 was about Purchases, Inventory and Sales. What made it interesting for the participants is the fact that they were all required to put all the key components in a single page summary.

This time, for Challenge #8, it’s all about Jira.

Power BI insights

As explained by the brief, the challenge seeks to find solutions in working with data extracted from Jira and building a report around IT tickets.

We can’t emphasize enough how relevant this topic is, knowing that a lot of organizations use Jira in their daily operations. In fact, some of you might already be using Jira, while some might encounter the tool in the near future. Either way, this is yet another opportunity to show that Power BI is a must have for any organization who wants to dive deep into their data.

There’s a lot of time left before the deadline, so look at the problem from every possible perspective and be as creative as you can with your submission.

Deadline for submission is on October 25, 2020.

The Power BI Challenge

The Power BI Challenge has transformed in so many ways. From just a few regulars on the Enterprise DNA Forum, we’re now seeing submissions from both members and non-members of the Enterprise DNA community.

The submissions are also becoming more and more impressive in every run. Knowing that this is our 8th challenge, we’re looking forward to seeing even better reports. For sure, this is going to be another challenge for us as we choose another set of winners based on these key factors:

  • Data loading and transformation
  • Data modeling
  • Reports and visualizations
  • DAX calculations

Even better than the awesome submissions is the increasing level of collaboration and connection within the group. The conversations surrounding every challenge have been interesting and we’re seeing a high level of engagement from everyone.

Aside from the conversations in the Enterprise DNA Forum, we’ve also created a great learning opportunity from these challenges. The best submissions from each round are now part of the Power BI Challenge Showcase. This means that if you’re one of our winners, Enterprise DNA members get the chance to learn and practice using your reports.
