Any Power BI user knows that the quality of the reports you make depends on what’s going on behind the scenes. DAX functions are among the pillars of a great Power BI report. This means that when your DAX functions are not optimized, your reports (and your entire experience as a Power BI user) are sacrificed. You may watch the full video of this tutorial at the bottom of this blog.
That’s why we launched this new course called Optimizing DAX, which was developed by one of our Enterprise DNA experts, Nick Moné.
The main goal of the Optimizing DAX course is to help Power BI users optimize their performance through the use of key data modeling and DAX concepts and techniques. It teaches best practices that help you develop ideal data models, greatly improving the quality of your reports.
Probably one of the most useful things you would learn in this course is diagnosing and resolving issues and performance bottlenecks in your DAX measures. We all know that a single glitch in your DAX measure can have a great impact in the way your reports and dashboards turn out. With the tools and techniques outlined in this course, you can pinpoint and eliminate mistakes and minimize the chances of the same issues happening in the future.
The concepts discussed are also explained in plain language, making the course easier to understand.
What Comes With The Course
Once you enroll in the course, you’ll have access to 3 hours worth of videos discussing topics like:
- What is VertiPaq?
- What is DAX Studio?
- Logical and physical query plans
- Deep dive into storage engine queries
- Measuring query performance
The Optimization Lab
As if the course on how to optimize DAX isn’t amazing enough, there’s a lot more to look forward to once you’re done with it. Our experts will soon be introducing the Optimization Lab, which is the perfect next step after completing this course.
In the Optimization Lab, we’ll be asking for optimization problems on the Enterprise DNA Forum. From the suggestions, Nick will choose one problem each month and discuss possible solutions using the concepts discussed in the course. It’s basically a way to show some practical applications of your learnings.
This new course is definitely a great way to start the year! Here’s a video that can tell you more about what to expect in the course:
This is the first course in our portal that wasn’t made by our CEO, Sam McKay. In fact, you’ll be seeing a lot more of our Enterprise DNA experts. Just like what Nick did in this course, we’re bringing them in to contribute more exciting content and powerful courses. We’re looking forward to learning more amazing concepts and techniques with you soon.
All the best,
Enterprise DNA Team
