30 for 30. 30 videos in 30 days. Youtube channel launch for Enterprise DNA TV!

by | DAX, Power BI

We’ve recently completed a rebrand of Enterprise DNA’s youtube channel to Enterprise DNA TV.

This is an exciting development from my perspective and I see it as a great vehicle to get the message out and also to reach people all across the world as Power BI adoption grows exponentially.

There’s a few platforms to get the message out these days and provide value for everyone learning Power BI, but I’ve reached the conclusion that there’s none better than Youtube.

So we’re doing it….well mostly me at this point but will get more contributors involved over time.

Power BI can bring your data to life, seriously, so through online videos I feel like it’s the best way to showcase best practices, talk technical stuff and evaluate new announcements and features etc.

Obviously I’m not re-inventing the wheel here, others have worked this out…that Youtube is a great platform for this, but now I’ve decided it’s Enterprise DNA’s turn to show the world how great Power BI is and also what you can achieve with the suite of tools.

Things we’ll venture into over time about Power BI;

  1. How to videos around all key areas of Power BI development
  2. Reviewing new features and announcements
  3. Webinar releases
  4. Internal announcements
  5. and much more.

Whatever is relevant I personally want to be talking about it.

To celebrate the rebrand and the relaunch you could say, I’ve decided on a 30 from 30.

How about committing to 30 high quality videos on Power BI in 30 days. Couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than this way.

We’ve actually already started. We’ve just released videos on

  1. The DATEADD function (easily the best time intelligence function in DAX)
  2. A detailed video on ‘Multi Threaded Dynamic Visuals’ – likely my fav. visualisation trick at the moment…this video is almost 20 minutes long!
  3. Detail on how to work out the difference between one year versus previous years

…and we’re only three days in. 27 more to go.

Got some awesome stuff in the pipeline as well coming out in the next few days like;

  • How to run scenario analysis in Power BI with DAX
  • How and when to use the ALL statement
  • A review of quick measures
  • What Power BI premium means to organisation
  • Power BI apps (newly released feature)
  • Variables in DAX

and heaps more…we’re coming in with a bang, that’s for sure.

On top of this we’re also releasing the ‘Ultimate Beginners Guide To Power BI’…for FREE of course.

This has been in the pipeline for a little bit and been secretly released on the website and already has had a number of people through. Feedback has been great, so on the right track there.

You might wonder why we’re starting to give a lot more away for free…well, sometimes I do as well!

Well not too long ago I realised that freemium is the way to go. The Power BI team itself have shown us the way. Giving 80% of Power BI’s functionality (maybe more) for FREE!

At the end of the day good things will happen I’m sure.

If anyone learns a large chunk of what they need to know about Power BI through Enterprise DNA for free and wants to learn the extra 20% to become a serious super user, hopefully they’ll decide to upgrade to one of our paid training or offerings in the future.

That’s how I see it. I guess time will tell.

If you want to check out the channel you can find it here.

Also if you’re starting out with Power BI then you might want to check out the recently released free Power BI training below.

Ultimate Beginners Guide To Power BI

Spent a lot of time developing this online training for beginners (that honestly most would and do charge for) as I feel we can do it better and showcase how to build awesome Power BI reports even to for early users of Power BI.

That’s all for this update.

Really interested to hear your feedback.

Leave any thoughts below on how we can make the offering even better!
